Music then and now

   Posted by: admin    in Music

Old is gold, and this is absolutely true in the case of music. The music which was sung many years back and the knowledge of the artist about the subject is a lot different from the present day artist.

The priorities of the yesteryear artist has changed. Earlier, people were more patient and knowledgeable to what the people are now. Like food, music has also changed from a traditional style and structure to an instant method of satisfying the listener. Like fast food, the artist tries to accommodate all that he knows in a space of an hour and tries to prove his point. Earlier the music was quite slow and it ran for hours and the listeners were also patient enough to attend the whole concert.

Now there is a sea of change in the music played in films too and way the music is composed has changed. The voice of the singer is edited and then presented these days. Earlier, the singer had to sing the whole song correctly and there was no editing. But as they say, changes occur and we have to go by it. We got to accept this new format of music and just move on.

Communal Tension in India

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

The ongoing issue of communal tension is really hurting. During the formation of the Indian constitution, India was declared as a secular state, but the ongoing issue is not coherent to it.

My heart pains on reading the news paper, every morning. Once I see the news as “many people killed as temple is destroyed” or “nun raped or mosque destroyed”, I think for a second as to whether the principles of the constitution are kept in mind or not. Recently the issue of tension between the Hindus and the Christians in Orrissa is really sad. I do not know who is right and who is wrong, but I feel the whole issue has to end as soon as possible.

Every religion states that we should respect man kind. If so then why commit offenses in the name of religion. India has uniquely maintained the distinction of being the only country where numerous religions are being followed, but still such incidents create disturbances in our Indian culture.

I just hope that such tensions reduce in the near future.

Remaking movies

   Posted by: admin    in movies

I personally feel that remaking movies is really not a great idea. That is because it tends to diminish the charm and originality of cinema. I have seen that many a times the movie is an exact copy of a parent cinema. This just tends to show how good a director is able to copy a cinema rather than the original talent. I was once really saddened by the news that The Departed won the Oscars and Babel missed out. The Departed was a based on a Hong Kong movie. Even though Babel was original it lost out.

Such facts where the remake movie tends to gain more appreciation against a superb original movie is not at all acceptable. i just hope that even if the trend of remake continues such movies should not compete in the awards hence disrupting the originality of pure cinema. After all the essence of the movie lies in the direction and the storyline, and it is an easy task to remake a movie from a original one.

Vegetarianism

   Posted by: admin    in lifestyle

Vegetarianism is a very powerful word which describes many issues in one. Basic non consumption of meat is the first level definition of vegetarianism. Being a vegetarian through out my life I have experienced that the availability of food as well as hygiene has been excellent.

For non vegetarians, I feel the quality of food is extremely important. A rotten potato or tomato in a dish may spoil the taste but not the stomach, compared to the extent to which rotten meat spoils the stomach. Many celebs are also turning vegetarians, not just because they love animals. Though one of the reasons is that they are animal lovers, the original reason is that veg diet seems to be healthier. Latest reports suggest that non veg diet seems to release more content of methane gas in the atmosphere. So in global terms too veg seems to work out better.

Hence I would always say a veg diet is wholesome and healthy.

Great Leaders

   Posted by: admin    in general

Leadership has been all about putting forth your ideas to the people. It also emphasizes the quality of extracting work from the other person with the least hitch. This world has seen a number of leaders, from Mahatma Gandhi to Nelson Mandela and on the negative sense Adlof Hitler to Osama Bin Laden. These leaders, irrespective of what they want to prove have had many similar leadership qualities, though their motives have differed.

All of them were great orators and had the gift of capturing the attention of people through their fiery speeches. People like Hitler and Osama could even put forth their evil ideas into the minds of people in the easiest way. Such was the power of their speeches.

Leaders in general were very confident about their decisions. They knew the future consequences of their decisions and acted accordingly. They had the power to thin with their minds rather than their hearts. They never allowed their emotions to conquer them.

Hope we just learn some of these qualities and use them and that should be only in the positive sense and for the welfare of this world.

Economic crisis

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

The latest reports on economic crisis are really disturbing. The reason behind the crisis though is seriously not explainable. On one hand companies are facing bankruptcy and on the other hand stock markets are constantly falling. The situation is something which no one expected and has surprised everyone. But looking form an outside perspective, this situation is supportive to the statement “Everything that raises has to fall and everything that falls has to raise”. The world witnessed unprecedented raise in market values of many companies in the last two years and now they are seeing the fall. General motors and AIG have been two massive organizations, which was used as a benchmark to weigh other companies. If somebody is still in a dilemma of accepting this as a crisis, you should probably convince them with these two examples.
But the crisis situation will surely improve and markets will stabilize. Economists are really finding it tough to say about when this is supposed to happen. Hope things settle and the situation comes back to normal as soon as possible.

Is the wall crumbling?

   Posted by: admin    in sports

The on going issue of Rahul Dravid’s form in test cricket has given a chance for the critics to just pour out. With Ganguly and Kumble retired, they hint Dravid is next. But the point is, is he actually near retirement??

Dravid is too great a player and his contribution to the Indian team is very significant. I feel we are mere mortals and to comment on his caliber is something rude. It is quite true that he has not performed well for quite some time. That does not push us to ask him to hang his boots, the decision lies in his hand.

In my opinion, he can be rested for a series or two and should be assured a come back after that. It is pretty common for great players to tend to slack at some point of time, despite their skill levels. Unfortunately for Dravid it has happened in the fag end of his career. I feel he has a lot to contribute and the word retirement would not be the right term at this instance.

Vishy Anand

   Posted by: admin    in sports

Reading the papers, it is really heartening to see that Vishy Anand has been crowned as the World Champion. He has been one person in the Indian sporting scene who has been committed and individualistic. From the very beginning he was extraordinary and his achievements were the result of continuous dedication and hard work.

Though in a land where cricket is religion and its players are like gods, Vishy Anand has stood tall and this win has proved again that he is still standing tall. Now being compared to the legendary Bobby Fischer, I think Vishy will be one of the major guys in the history books.

He is known for his versatility to adopt himself to all the 3 formats of the game. Initially he was more of a rapid chess player. Over the years he developed his playing style to suit the other two styles. It is really great that Vishy has achieved this. Hope he brings more and more laurels to the game and the country.

Inflation

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

Is the inflation justified?

I have seen many mails stating that the present hike in the salaries of IT companies has increased the cost of living of the city. On one hand this seems right but on the other hand this cant also be the only reason.

Executives in IT companies are paid more than their counterparts in other core companies and this cannot be refuted. Adding to this, the number of people working in IT is also high. Hence the culture of the place naturally changes if we have a group of highly paid people. That has directly affected the cost of living of the city as there are consumers of products even if the cost increases. So it can be stated that the increased wages in one sector has indeed resulted in inflation.

But on a different perspective I feel that the cost of goods has also increased and this has actually contributed a lot in the inflation percentage. Manufacturing has been hit by the recession and prices are soaring up. The inflation is in fact justified, but the magnitude could have been a little lesser.
